FOR years debate has raged as to whether Rosslyn Chapel is the final resting place of the Holy Grail.

Now a man claiming to be a descendant of a medieval order of knights has called on the mystery to be settled once and for all.

He says archaeologists should be allowed to carry out electronic examinations under the vaults of the 15th century chapel to find out if ancient relics are buried there.

David Conley believes the Holy Grail, the Ark of the Covenant and ancient scrolls which date back to the time of Christ may be hidden beneath the Midlothian church.

He claims he has approached the Rosslyn Chapel Trust, which refused to let him arrange for archeologists to use the scanning equipment at the church.
